Foodzie

foodzie logoSan Francisco’s Foodzie definitely shares our creed of sharing something yummy. The online food specialty store is a bit like Etsy for food & beverage.  As a brand manager at a food retailer, co-founder Emily Olson saw how difficult it was to get shelf space for new specialty products.  Teaming up with friends Nik Bauman, and Rob LaFave they came up with Foodzie and launched themselves into Business Week’s list of Best Young Tech Entrepreneurs of 2009.

The artisan products come from 150 plus, small producers from across the United States. Providing everything a foodie would love; from passion fruit marshmallows to fig & port vinegarette. Foodzie helps the niche businesses easily set up online, taking a 20% commission and a $0.60 transaction fee.  The products are a tad pricey which is a reminder that all the food is produced by small but passionate players and as Foodzie says, is “special in some way”.
